Michigan Basketball: Ranking the Big Ten's 4 newest head coaches
By Nick Popio
1. Eric Musselman USC
Musselman has done just about everything one can do as a coach since the 90's. He's been an NBA head guy, a D-league coach and an assistant. He's also the oldest of the four, but has the deepest job application. He is leaving Arkansas with a losing season in hand though. His worst as a college leading man. So the timing is a little peculiar.
At Nevada, he won the CBI in 2016. After that, he didn't lose more than eight games in a season. The Mountain West ran through Nevada with his vision by accomplishing so much there. He left for the SEC and didn't disappoint either. Two Elite 8s in a row with players like J.D. Notae and first-round pick, Moses Moody.
Now he heads to Los Angeles without Bronny James and All-American recruit Trent Perry. He flipped Josh Cohen and more could follow. Will Musselman be the last coaching change in the Big Ten this offseason, time will tell. Unexpected retirements and the NBA will be looking for the next great college coach to make the jump to the big leagues. So we'll see.
