Now that Dusty May and the Michigan basketball team have a roster for the 2024-25 season, the Wolverines are starting to put more focus on the 2025 recruiting class.

May started behind the 8-ball a little bit. That's just how it works when you are taking over a new program in March. However, the new Michigan basketball head coach has a lot of credibility after just taking FAU to the Final Four and he's made a splash so far with the Wolverines.

Not only was May able to build a roster that should be able to make the NCAA tournament and compete in the Big Ten, but it should also attract recruits. Remember, May said he wants to play a fun brand of basketball.

Regardless, Michigan basketball is starting to gain more traction in the 2025 class. One name that Michigan fans should know is that of five-star point guard Darius Acuff.

Acuff who is ranked as the No. 1 point guard according to the On3 Industry rankings, as well as seventh overall, is from Detroit but plays for IMG Academy. He also visited Michigan basketball when Juwan Howard was still the head coach.

May has been putting in work though and the Wolverines have survived the cut down to four teams according to Joe Tipton of On3.com. The other finalists for Acuff, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound guard are Kansas, Arkansas, and UConn.

Kansas and Arkansas are the favorites right now according to the On3 prediction machine. That's not a huge surprise and frankly, the Wolverines will have to prove they have the kind of NIL needed to win this recruitment, because a top-10 player is going to command NIL.

Acuff has visited Arkansas and Kansas, but not Michigan since May has been hired. That's the next step, although no visits are scheduled at this time. But if the Wolverines can get Acuff on campus again, they might have a puncher's chance of landing his commitment.
