Is a third running back still in play for Michigan football?

After getting commitments from running backs on back-to-back weekends, Michigan football could still be looking for a third.

Michigan football is doing work under head coach Sherrone Moore on the recruiting trail and it feels like things are just getting started for the Wolverines in the 2025 class.

Even though the Wolverines have landed five commitments over the past two days and seven in the last two weeks, they still lead with six other recruits in the 2025 class right now, according to expert projections and all of those are blue-chip prospects.

However, after the Wolverines have taken two running backs in the past two weeks, it's fair to wonder if Michigan football is still looking to take a third, such as Jordon Davison who took an official visit to Ann Arbor recently.

Can Michigan take a third running back?

Davison is 6-foot, 216 pounds and is ranked 96th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Out of Mater Dei, one of the top programs in the country, Davison seems ready to make an early impact a at next level and has been considering Ohio State and Oregon, as well as the Wolverines.

Davison took his last visit to Ohio State. Before that, he visited Michigan and the Wolverines improved their standing. Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider reported that Davison is still a take for the Wolverines and that won't be an issue for Donovan Johnson or Jasper Parker.

Johnson, a four-star recruit, is looking healthier and had a solid workout with the Wolverines according to Webb where he looked "95 percent healthy."

Johnson was a top-100-level recruit, maybe top-50 if he doesn't get hurt. He's still ranked No. 232 overall and there is some major upside there. But landing another elite back like Davison would further reinforce the running back room.

Three running backs is a lot in one class but few teams in college football run the ball as much as Michigan and as we all know, Sherrone Moore is committed to smashing.
