If Michigan had the power to kick teams out of the Big Ten, here are five it might remove from the league.

2. Penn State

We're obviously having a little fun with this post, so bare with us as we explain why Michigan might give Penn State the boot if it had its way.

Looking way back, Penn State's move to the Big Ten is one of the first dominoes that started all of this expansion stuff. Maybe if Penn State didn't join the Big Ten, we might still have a Southwest conference and the Pac-10 might still exist.

Who knows. The SEC championship game was really to blame. But Penn State's addition is when the Big Ten went from 10 teams to 11. Then, they added Nebraska to get 12 and a title game.

Michigan has created a pretty solid rivalry with Penn State but there's not even a traveling trophy between the teams and who wouldn't want to get James Franklin out of the league?

That right there would be reason enough.

Michigan also wasn't that pleased when Penn State was added to the Big Ten in 1990. The vote was 7-3 and there are reports that Michigan was among the schools that voted against it. Bo Schembechler came out publicly against the process too.

So if Michigan had its way, it might kick out the Nittany Lions, along with the other new programs and take this thing back to 10.
