If Michigan had the power to kick teams out of the Big Ten, here are five it might remove from the league.

Michigan football has been a dominant program in the Big Ten conference. The Wolverines have won three titles in a row, but even despite some down years, Michigan and Ohio State have been the best programs.

Now, the league has 18 teams and it barely resembles the conference that I knew growing up. It's going to be weird seeing Michigan football play Washington or Oregon or even USC in a conference game.

With all of the conference realignment, it seemed like a fun exercise to look at five teams Michigan would remove from the Big Ten (or 18) if it had the power to do so.

5. Rutgers

Rutgers doesn't even belong in the Big Ten. The league wanted a way into the New York TV market and thought Rutgers would be the way to do it.

I'm not sure if it's been that successful. It's irrelevant now. The Scarlet Knights have played in a few bowl games but they haven't been much of a contender in football or basketball.

Michigan football lost one game to Rutgers during the Hoke era. Jim Harbaugh beat them in overtime once and the Scarlet Knights are always pesky. Beating Michigan would be like winning a national championship for them in football, so that's another reason they could exit.
