Could Michigan football flip a blue-chip cornerback from Auburn?
It hasn't been a great week for Michigan football on the recuriting trail as the Wolverines lost their top-ranked commitment in the 2025 class to Auburn.
That's Nate Marshall and the No. 49 overall recruit in the 2025 class is a 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive lineman who committed in April but flipped to the Tigers.
It happens. It's not the end of the world, as I laid out this week, but it certainly stings. However, the Wolverines are working on some flips of their own, especially at the cornerback position, and one of the flip targets they are most serious about is Auburn four-star cornerback Donovan Starr.
Michigan football aiming for a flip
Starr is out of Brentwood, Tennessee. He's 6-foot, 176 pounds, and ranked No. 416 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Starr committed to Auburn in June. Clemson was another team involved but the Tigers have a crowded cornerback room in the 2025 class and according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine, Michigan is pushing to flip Starr.
That effort could be aided by a visit this fall. It sounds like Michigan football isn't the only program interested in star but according to Holland, the Wolverines should get a visit this fall.
Starr runs the 100-meter dash in 10.56. That's dynamic, especially for a dude who is 6-foot-1. Ravenwood is also a familar place for Michigan football, which landed current cornerback Myles Pollard from there, as well as Junior Colson, who started for two seasons and is now playing for Jim Harbaugh with the LA Chargers.
The visits often tell the story in recruiting and getting Starr on campus for a visit will be a sign that Michigan football has a real chance to flip the Auburn blue-chip commitment.
