Can Michigan football Close on key targets this weekend?
We are just a few days away from one of Michigan football's biggest recruiting events of the year, the BBQ at the Big House! While the event is geared towards underclassmen recruits (there will be tons of elite 2026 guys there), three of Michigan's biggest remaining targets in the 2025 class will be in attendance.
Those three targets are five-star wide receiver Jerome Myles, four-star top-100 wide receiver Andrew Marsh, and four-star cornerback Jayden Sanders. The Wolverines seem to be trending for all three, but they hold commanding leads for Sanders and Marsh. Wide receiver and defensive back are two priority positions in the 2025 cycle.
Can Michigan football close with Sanders and Marsh?
Marsh has said that he plans to commit in August. That could, and hopefully will mean that he will announce his commitment just a few days after leaving Ann Arbor. The staff has done a tremendous job with visits all year long, and Marsh has loved his previous visits to Ann Arbor. There's no reason to expect this time should be any different.
Barring any major changes, things look very good with Marsh and the Wolverines. The staff will do everything in their power to secure his commitment. Marsh would have an opportunity to see the field his freshman year at Michigan, which could be a huge selling point. We'll know more on where things stand as the weekend progresses, but Michigan football has put itself in a great position with Marsh.
In terms of Sanders, Michigan football also appears to be in a great position. This weekend will mark Sanders' second visit to Ann Arbor. Michigan recently put the full-court press on Sanders after missing out on other top cornerback targets, and Sanders has been very receptive.
Sanders has a top five of Baylor, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Michigan. The Wolverines are far and away the best program on that list, but they're also the farthest away from the Texas native. Baylor is a school to potentially watch here as they've been very public about their use of NIL funds with recruits.
Sanders has said that he wants to commit shortly after his visit to Michigan. That should bode well for the Wolverines. Michigan is in dire need of a cornerback commit, and Sanders would be a great kid to get on board. Sanders is a bit more of a wildcard than Marsh just based off the fact that this will only be his second visit to Ann Arbor, but I wouldn't be surprised if he committed over the weekend.
As of right now, I expect Michigan football to land both Marsh and Sanders. The staff understands how important both of those kids are, and is going to do everything they can to earn their commitment. A plethora of 2025 commits will be at the BBQ, and I'm sure they'll be doing their part with Marsh and Sanders. This weekend should be exciting, keep an eye out for any updates. Go Blue!
