Thoughts on transfer of Terrance Williams

I have to admit, this stung. Terrance Williams II was one of the true bright spots for Michigan basketball during the 2023-24 season.

His efforts don't get remembered, but he really improved his game, especially as a 3-point shooter. His shooting was always going to be the defining charactieristic of his game. If he's a quality shooter, he's a quality player to have on your roster.

Williams is never going to be an elite defender. He's a glue guy but he averaged 12.9 points per game last season, which was twice his scoring average in 2022-23. Yes, his usage was higher but normally, when your usage goes up, the shooting percentage goes down.

That didn't happen with Williams. He attempted twice as many 3-pointers per game and increased his shooting percentage by 12 points. Williams averaged 1.7 treys per game and shot 37 percent. Michigan basketball fans might have mocked him for declaring for the NBA draft, which is more about getting evaluated anyway, but he's going to be a huge help for someone next season.

Williams could have helped Michigan but he might just be ready for a change. Either way, I wish him the best of luck in the future and really admire his effort this past season.
