Michigan football quarterback J.J. McCarthy is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the 2024 NFL draft. The 6-foot-3, 219-pound quarterback dazzled at the NFL combine.

Not only did McCarthy throw the ball 61 MPH at the combine, matching Josh Allen, but he also posted the fifth-best time in the three-cone drill among all players, not just quarterbacks. McCarthy also completed 72 percent of his passes last season, and is exceptional at taking care of the ball.

Leading up to the Michigan football pro day, the Vikings, Giants, and Washington Commanders have all met with McCarthy. That's significant because Washington owns the No. 2 overall pick.

The Patriots have the No. 3 pick, while the Vikings and Giants are outside the top five but are eyeing McCarthy and might be looking to move up. That's likely why the Vikings acquired another first-round pick.

Minnesota are the odds-on favorites to land the Michigan football quarterback at -115 according to Vegas oddsmakers. The New York Giants have the second-best odds at (+350), followed by the Broncos (+430) and New England Patriots (+900).

The Patriots have the No. 3 overall pick and wouldn't need to make any moves. Since the departure of Tom Brady, the franchise has struggled greatly. New England found success with a former Michigan football quarterback once before and McCarthy could help restore the franchise.

The Vikings feel like the favorite though and with Kirk Cousins leaving, it makes sense. With four quarterbacks all near the top of the draft, it's not be hard to predict what happens. However, I'm confident saying that McCarthy will end up as a top-five pick, regardless of where he goes.
