Alex Orji is the best option for Michigan football as starting quarterback

We know that Michigan football is still trying to decide who will be a starting quarterback but Alex Orji is the best fit.

There is plenty of debate among Michigan football fans about who the starting quarterback should be. There isn't a clear option right now, which makes it difficult.

Going back to the debate between Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy, Jim Harbaugh said at some point things would become clear. It did as McCarthy proved to be the best quarterback and everyone knew it.

That's why Jim made the decision he made, which was a brilliant one. Hopefully, the quarterback situation will become clear to Sherrone Moore. If you have to make a "tough" decision, then you probably aren't in a great spot.

The starting quarterback should be clear. It would be great if by the end of fall camp, the players, the coaches, and everyone was in alignment, like this is our guy. But it's hard to know if that will happen.

Jack Tuttle is the most experienced. He was also a former four-star recruit and has started Big Ten games, but has never truly been a full-time starter. He could probably mimic what McNamara did in 2021, but that's still not easy. Cade played spectacular that season and was elite in protecting the ball.

Davis Warren probably has the most arm talent. Alex Orji is in that debate too as in Jadyn Davis, but I'm not including him in this discussion. His time will come but I don't know if it will in 2024.

You never know though. McCarthy could have started games if needed in 2021. I have no doubt about that. Orji has the phyiscal tools. He needs to improve his accuracy though and decision making is a learning process for any first-time starter.

However, he brings another dimension with his legs that the others don't. Whether that's designed runs or scrambling when things break down. An elite defense, coupled with an elite running game, could allow Michigan football to win plenty of games.

That's why Orji feels like the best option. Not only is he a running threat, but running with the quarterback adds more pressure to the defense. It will also open things up more for Donovan Edwards.

Orji will have to produce as a passer. But the most important thing will be to avoid turnovers because it's not like the offense has to score 40 points a game. They just need to not lose it.
