5 things we learned in Michigan football win over Minnesota

Michigan football survived against Minnesota but the way the game ended left plenty of questions for the coaching staff moving forward.

Quarterback is still an issue

It's so frustrating to watch Michigan football operate on offense. The only thing working right now is Mullings and that's not going to be enough against teams that are more competent offensively than Minnesota, which is most of the Big Ten.

It's mind-boggling that Michigan football doesn't have more zone-read stuff in its offense, even as we are in the second week of Orji as the starter. It makes you wonder what they did all offseason.

I get having a system, but the "system" was about J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum, and the offensive line. Put those dudes in any system and it will work. Football is about the Jimmy's and Joes -- not the X's and O's and sometime, that staff will figure that out.

You've got to put the players you have in the best position to succeed. That being said, Orji had Donovan Edwards for a wide-open touchdown on his interception. The decisions and throws aren't great, but the Wolverines also aren't using Orji enough to test the defense and occupy defenders in the run game.

It's hard to explain why but talk about forcing a square peg into a round hole. At the same time, if Orji hits that touchdown pass to Edwards, we probably aren't having this conversation...as much.
