There's no question about the top recruiting target for Michigan football in the 2025 class and that's five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.

Underwood, out of Belleville, Michigan, is the top-ranked quarterback in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He also is the No. 1 overall prospect in the entire class.

Michigan football has been a top contender for Underwood for the past few months. Kirk Campbell got the Wolverines back into the mix after he was hired.

LSU has been trending as the leader according to the On3 prediction machine, as well as some crystal ball projections that have the five-star quarterback ending up in Baton Rouge.

Michigan football seemed to move things in a positive direction when Underwood visited Ann Arbor for "The Game" against Ohio State. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound quarterback said positive things about the Wolverines following that visit.

The development of J.J. McCarthy certainly has to be a selling point as well. Michigan football took a five-star quarterback and helped him develop into a first-round pick -- not to mention all the championships.

However, Alabama might have something to say about this recruitment. Underwood reported on X on Saturday that he will be taking an unofficial visit to Alabama this weekend.

It's even more interesting since Alabama and Michigan football will square off in the Rose Bowl in the College Football Playoff semifinals in a couple of weeks for a birth in the national championship game.

Underwood is expected to make his decision on Jan. 6 in the new year. So this visit is interesting. Both teams have developed quarterbacks well and are playoff regulars.

There are also a lot of rumors about head coach Jim Harbaugh. Getting a new contract extension signed would help, but will that happen by January 6th? That's hard to say but this visit to Alabama is someting to monitor.
