A perfect pair with Jasper Parker

This is the second running back commitment in the past week for Michigan football and new running backs coach Tony Alford.

Yes, Ohio State fans are going to mock Alford for these commitments since he didn't land Marquise Davis or Bo Jackson, but you have to give credit to Alford for the pair he did get in a short period of time on the job with the Wolverines.

Parker is a three-star prospect but his offer sheet doesn't look like one. He's been productive and feels like someone who should be ranked higher. He should be ready to compete right away and there aren't any injury concerns.

Johnson could be in the mix early too, but his upside is more long-term. Once he gets healthy again, Johnson should resemble the prospect who got offers from OSU, Alabama, and Georgia, and if that happens, Michigan football will be getting a player who is top-100 caliber.

Here's what Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider wrote about Johnson, who was one of the top-ranked recruits in the class before his injury.

"Johnson was one of the top-ranked prospects in the 2025 class in the initial 2025 Top247. A missed junior year due to a torn ACL bumped him down a bit, however, and he did not participate in the IMG spring scrimmage last month. Running backs coach Tony Alford has been familiar with Johnson since his time at Ohio State as the Buckeyes were at one time pursuing him."
