3 thoughts going into Victors Weekend for Michigan football

Michigan football is hosting 17 official visitors this weekend and here are three thoughts on a huge couple of days for recruiting.

Hold commitments

Another big objective for Michigan football this weekend should be holding onto a couple of 2025 commitments. We mentioned Nate Marshall. The top-100 D-line prospect visited Auburn recently and said his decision was "close" between the Tigers and Wolverines.

There was talk of Marshall also visiting Miami but that didn't happen. And after the commitment of Jaylen Williams, Michigan seems to be in a better position. This weekend will be important and the hope is that Marshall will shut things down and reaffirm his commitment.

Bobby Kanka, the first commitment for Michigan football in the 2025 class, visited Michigan State last weekend. There was a visit scheduled for Tennessee at one point, but D-line coach Lou Esposito was able to get Kanka to change that visit to Ann Arbor this weekend.

Kanka said positive things about his visit to Michigan State. But it's hard to tell if a flip is imminent. This visit will be important and if the Wolverines can make Kanka feel like a priority and answer any other questions he might have, then maybe they can get him to shut things down too.

That might not happen but that's the goal, just like it should be the goal with Nate Marshall.
