Who will emerge?

With almost the entire starting offense gone after last season, along with a few starters on defense, there's plenty of playing time available. The competition should be fierce, especially along the offensive line, wide receiver, and the secondary.

Those are the groups I'm watching closely in terms of position battles. Michigan football needs an offensive tackle or two to emerge. The Wolverines also need some of their young players in the secondary to prove they are up to the task.

Jyaire Hill, Zeke Berry, Brandyn Hillman, DJ Waller, and Myles Pollard are all players who could take a leap in the secondary. Wide receiver is another position to watch. Fans might be concerned after losing Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson, but Semaj Morgan and Tyler Morris showed they can produce on the big stage last season.

Fredrick Moore and Karmello English are two candidates primed to breakout this season. Keep an eye on running backs Benjamin Hall and Cole Cabana too. There will be other breakouts too, hopefully, along the front seven, but there is a lot of young talent ready for its time to shine.
