3 reasons why Michigan Football won't repeat as Big Ten champions

With new faces arriving and the target being squarely on their backs, Michigan football has the odds stacked against them in repeating for a fourth time in a row in Indy.

3. The championship hangover

There won't be anymore of Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines for the Wolverines. No other legends like Mike Hart, Denard Robinson, Jesse Minter or even Ben Herbert to depend on. That can be overwhelming in pressure packed situations, but it's not like their replacements are washed up, unexperienced vagabonds.

Is Kirk Campbell really the best man for the job at offensive coordinator? Is Wink Martindale past his prime in college now? How much will the offense drop off without a five star signal caller?

Almost all of the offense is being replaced by guys who have playing experience, but they will have to prove that they are capable like Roman Wilson, Trevor Keegan and others did for three years or so. When a play or the game is on the line, can an Andrew Gentry or Marlin Klein be trusted like those who came before them were? That's the million dollar question that we're all waiting on to see.

Then there's the constant bickering about NIL. The Buckeyes went out and secured the top transfer class in the country, while Michigan football was more in the middle of the pack, depending on where you look. That could very well be the difference between beating Ohio State for a fourth straight time or falling back to third or fourth place in the Big Ten.
