3 players who will help shape the 2024 season of Michigan Football
By Nick Popio
The Wolverines lost some transformational talent, but bring back the next crop of playmakers. The offense may lose too much to overcome in the headlining games, but they're not going to drop to Iowa's level of execution. The defense will likely have to carry Michigan football until both sides can pull their weights. What follows are three of the most important players who will have dire roles on how Team 145 performs.
1. Will Johnson
Will is Michigan's best player, could he take some offensive snaps like Charles Woodson did? If so he will be in the Heisman conversation automatically with Travis Hunter from Colorado as another corner who dabbles on the offensive side of the ball. It has been talked about before and it could happen, but is Johnson too valuable at a high-priority position to risk an injury?
On defense opposing quarterbacks should think twice about throwing his way. He rose to the occasion in two of the biggest wins of last season's championship run by beating out Marvin Harrison for an interception and picking off another top 10 draft selection in the title game win. He's battle-tested there and can strengthen his legacy by doing similar things to what Woodson did in 1997, offensively.
