10 NFL Draft picks that lived up to the hype in Michigan football history
Jake Long was the second Michigan player to ever be taken first overall in the NFL Draft. He was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the 2008 draft and played from 2008 to 2016.
Long was an immediate starter when he got to the league playing and starting in all 16 games his first three years. In the first four seasons of his career, Long was a 4-time Pro Bowler and was selected to the All-Pro First Team and All-Pro Second Team.
In his last two seasons with the Dolphins, Long dealt with injury taking him out for a couple of games each season. After leaving Miami in 2013, Long ended up with the St. Louis Rams where he played two years of his career.
Long's last two seasons were a little rough as he dealt with injury and moving around twice. Long retired in 2016 after playing in just four games, starting three of them, in his final season.
