We're starting to get a more clear picture of who the Michigan Wolverines are going to go after to replace Sherrone Moore, but that doesn't mean the surprises are over. Throughout the week thus far, the expectation has been that Jeff Brohm would be on the shortlist for the job.
Could Jeff Brohm give Michigan the Kenny Dillingham treatment?
Apparently, that's not the case. While on ESPN's 'Get Up' on Wednesday morning, insider Pete Thamel revealed that there are three coaches on the initial target list for the Wolverines, but Brohm isn't a focus. Instead, Michigan fans should keep their eyes on Jedd Fisch, Eli Drinkwitz and Kyle Whittingham instead:

The latest Michigan head coach update is a bit of a surprise
So, the Brohm rumors didn't have much weight behind them? Following Louisville's win over Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl, Brohm was asked about Michigan and he didn't hesitate in letting the media know that he wasn't going to comment on other jobs. He also made it clear that he's happy with the current one that he has.
So, with Brohm not looking like someone who is going to take over at Michigan, what about the three other guys that Thamel brought up? Drinkwitz is getting ready for a bowl game with Missouri, but his name has been floated around for a bit.
The same can be said for Fisch, who just wrapped up his second season with the Washington Huskies. UW just signed a pretty great 2026 class and the future is looking quite bright for the BIG Ten side from Seattle.
Then of course there's Whittingham, who won't return next season as head coach at Utah, which stunned a lot of people. Whittingham has no plans to retire and with all of his experience and football knowledge, he could be exactly what the Wolverines need right now. Soon enough, the hope is that some interviews will get done and more clarity on the situation will arrive. While we wait for that, Michigan supporters who were eyeing Brohm can cross him off the list - for now.
