Sherrone Moore, the Michigan football head coach, will serve a two-game suspension starting this Saturday.

However, there is one misconception about Moore's suspension. It lasts two two games, not two weeks. Moore will be able to spend the entire week with his team during practice ahead of the Central Michigan game.

Details of Sherrone Moore's suspension

The suspension, according to Clayton Sayfie of The Wolverine, will start at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, and will end on 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, September 20.

That's good news for Michigan football fans because there are plenty of things to correct after the Wolverines 24-13 loss to Oklahoma. Michigan will have Biff Poggi as the interim head coach. Chip Lindsey will remain the offensive coordinator. There was some thought that he would take on the interim head coach responsibilities, but Moore went with Poggi.

It's a no-brainer when you consider that Lindsey is calling plays from the booth. It would not have made sense to force that to change so Lindsey could be the interim head coach.

However, unlike when Jim Harbaugh was suspended during the 2023 season, Moore won't be allowed to be around the team at all during the week of the Nebraska game.

Moore won't have a say about the game-planning or any of that, which will be different from this week, which will essentially be the same as when Harbaugh was suspended. That also sheds some light on the one-game suspension for 2026, should it be upheld.

Nebraska looked strong in a 68-0 win over Akron, so it will hurt not to have Moore on the sidelines, but at least Moore won't have to miss as much time as expected.
