One Michigan football transfer is forgotten by ESPN rankings

Two Michigan football transfer portal additions are ranked in ESPN's top 100 but another should have made the list.

ESPN writer Max Olson ranked the top 100 college football players added in the transfer portal ahead of the 2025 season, and two Michigan football players cracked the list.

Running back Justice Haynes, who was considered one of the top running backs available in the transfer portal, ranked 37th among the top 100, according to Olson.

Hayes averaged 6.6 yards per attempt last season. His averaged is 5.9 over two seasons with Alabama. He didn't reach his potential, but it's hard to figure out why he didn't get more opportunities.

Michigan football already has Jordan Marshall. Add Haynes to that unit and it becomes one of the best tandems in the country. Haynes had a 26-yard run during the spring game.

The other transfer portal addition that Olson ranked among his top 100 is defensive tackle Tre Williams was 97th. The former top-100 recruit has 35 tackles over 44 games with 11 tackles for loss and four sacks, two of which came against Texas in the College Football Playoff last season.

Olson called Williams a "sneaky-good" pickup. Next to Rayshaun Benny and former Alabama defensive tackle Damon Payne, the defesnive front shouldn't drop-off as much as expected after losing Kenneth Graham and Mason Graham.

Michigan most underrated transfer portal addition

One player who wasn't listed, Donaven McCulley, probably should have been. McCulley is wearing No. 1 for Michigan football and the former 6-foot-5 wideout who transferred from Indiana, where he played quarterback and receiver, with a 648-yard season (receiving).

McCulley has true No. 1 potential. He's got a 100-yard game in Big Ten play, plus five games with at least 69 yards receiving in conference games.

With Bryce Underwood and an elite offensive line, as well as some other solid pass catchers around him, McCulley could have over 700 yards this season for Michigan.
