One of Michigan's most highly-touted recruits in the 2026 class, Julian Walker, a 6-foot-6, 252-pound EDGE, was offered by Nebraska on Wednesday, as the Huskers are the latest program to try and flip the elite defensive lineman away from the Wolverines.

Ranked No. 145 overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, landing Walker was a massive recruiting win for Michigan football, especially since they were able to get him out of the state of South Carolina, away from the Gamecocks.
Muiltiple programs trying to flip Michigan football commitment
Yet, like Nebraska, South Carolina is still recruiting Walker. The Gamecocks, to their credit, have never really stopped. Walker actually took a visit over the weekend for their game via 247 Sports, however, he does have a Gameday visit to Ann Arbor scheduled this fall.
The Nebraska offer is a little more interesting. Nebraska desperately needs defensive line recruits in the 2026 class. They don't have a single EDGE or D-line player committed. Nebraska only has 12 commitments with just three blue-chip prospects.
Nebraska was in on Titan Davis, before Michigan football locked down that recruiting win, with Alabama as the top contender. As far as this offer to Walker, it's hard to view Nebraska as a threat.
Not because of their program, but timing. There's only a few months before signing day. Nebraska could get the Michigan football commitment on campus for a visit, but one visit probably isn't going to make the difference in getting him to flip.
It's a curious offer. We'll see what happens next but as long as Walker gets back to Ann Arbor for his visit, Michigan should be just fine.
