One of the best moves that Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May made during the offseason was the addition of Morez Johnson, a former Illinois center.
Johnson played well for Illinois as a freshman. He was one of the best shot blockers, offensive rebounders, and finishers in the Big Ten.
He's only gotten better as a sophomore for Michigan basketball. The Wolverines have a 26-2 record, thanks in large part to the elite defense, rebounding, and finishing of Johnson, who is averaging 13.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Johnson leads the Big Ten in field-goal percentage (65.4) and also blocks 1.2 shots per game, on top of 2.4 offensive rebounds per outing.
In short, Johnson has exceeded expectations. On Friday, he will have to play against his old team for the first time, and could play a key role in ending the Wolverines nine-game losing streak to Illinois.
Johnson was asked this week about returning to Champaign, and here's what he said, according to college basketball reporter Scott Hughes.

“What’s the saying? Swimming in shark-infested waters? But I’d say I’m the shark. I’m the shark, and I’m coming home to swim in nut-infested waters. And I ain’t eaten in days.”

Morez Johnson's message on Illinois return will get Michigan fans pumped
“What’s the saying? Swimming in shark-infested waters? But I’d say I’m the shark. I’m the shark, and I’m coming home to swim in nut-infested waters. And I ain’t eaten in days," Johnson said to Hughes.
That should have Michigan basketball fans frothing at the mouth with excitement. That's exactly the attitude needed to end this losing streak and wrap up the Big Ten title once and for all.
The atmosphere will be insane. The presence of Johnson will only add to the excitement, and we'll see how he does in the "shark-infested waters."
It might just determine who wins and loses.
