We'll see what the AP Poll says later on Monday, but the Michigan basketball team is now ranked No. 1, according to the Kenpom rankings and the NET Rankings, after the first batch was released on Monday.
The Wolverines took over the top spot in the Kenpom rankings after their 40-point win over Gonzaga, which was the second straight 30-point-plus win over a top-25 team in the AP Poll.
It was a historic stretch. The NET rankings are a tool used by the selection committee, and more importantly, the Wolverines have three quad-1 wins already.
The 2025-26 Michigan basketball season couldn't have started better, which is probably a good thing after the football season ended with a thud this weekend.
Michigan football is rolling on the recruiting trail
Despite the lopsided defeat to Ohio State, Sherrone Moore and the Michigan football team continued to cook on the recruiting trail, landing two blue-chip commitments on Sunday, one in the 2026 recruiting class and another in 2027.
The first commitment was a flip of Jamarion Vincent, a four-star cornerback ranked No. 168 overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings out of Texas in 2026. He's 6-foot-2, 165 pounds. The Michigan Wolverines also secured a key in-state commitment in the 2027 class from Recarder Kitchen, a 6-foot-6, 240-pound EDGE ranked 110th overall (2027). He's the second-best recruit in Michigan.
