Michigan football signed the No. 1 quarterback in the 2025 class, five-star Bryce Underwood, but there was an impact on the 2026 class as it led to Brady Hart's decommitment.
Hart flipped his commitment to Texas A&M and re-classified to the 2025 class. It was a bummer because I loved Hart's game. I loved Carter Smith too and he ended up signing with Wisconsin in the 2025 class.
Underwood is a generational talent though. That doesn't mean the Wolverines shouldn't focus on the future though and in 2026, they are getting back in the mix with four-star Brady Smigiel, who just decommitted from Florida State on Sunday.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound quarterback out of Newbury Park, California, has been in touch with UCLA, Michigan football, Ohio State and others since his decommitment. Chip Lindsey offered Smigiel while he was at North Carolina so there is a relationship there.
However, in terms of zeroing in a on a top target in 2026, it looks like Lindsey, the new offensive coordinator for Michigan football has done just that.
Mike Danna back in the Super Bowl
Former Michigan football standout Mike Danna, a former seventh-round pick of the Chiefs, will be back in the Super Bowl with Kansas City after the three-point win over Buffalo.
Danna had a sack in the win, plus another key pressure on Josh Allen. Danna had 41 tackles and 3.5 sacks this season for Kansas City. He's got 20.5 career sacks and will try to win a third straight Super Bowl win against the Eagles on February 9th.
Mason Graham rated as College football's best defensive tackle
Michigan football fans knew that Mason Graham was the best defensive tackle in college football this past season but Pro Football Focus agreed. He was their highest-graded defensive tackle.
Yet, one name in the top 10 might surprise some people: Rayshaun Benny. According to PFF, he was the second-highest-graded defensive tackle in the Big Ten this season. (7th overall).
That bodes well for the Michigan Wolverines since Benny just announced his return for the 2025 season along with Rod Moore, Derrick Moore, T.J. Guy, Jaishawn Barham, and Ernest Hausmann.
