Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore offered some updates on the starting quarterback job of the Wolverines on Tuesday,
Monday, August 25th - that's when Sherrone Moore says he'll announce Michigan's starting QB.

Moore didn't name a starting quarterback. However, he said an announcement would come on August 25th, whenever the media availability is for that day. Moore said he would tell the team beforehand, then also (jokingly) told the media not to call or text the players.
So Michigan football fans will know the starting quarterback on Monday August 25th. We all know that it will be Bryce Underwood but there is no reason to make a pre-mature decision. Moore did mention that multiple quarterbacks could play in the opener.
There has been more buzz about Jadyn Davis as the No. 2, but part of that is due to Mikey Keene's injury. As the season goes on, that could change.
John Mateer investigated for gambling
On Sunday night, some Venmo transactions from former Washington State, now Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer, went public that suggested he took part in sports gambling.
The transactions have signed been deleted. Mateer issued a public statement saying that he has never gambled on college football and that the transactions were part of a "joke." Transactions were sent to other players on the Washington State team.
Oklahoma issued a statement (via On3) that it is "aware and handling the situation," which is weird because if he didn't gamble, why would Oklahoma need to "handle" anything?
I doubt anything will come of it. But it's something to monitor.
Former Spartan making a move
In other news, Jaden Mangham, the former starter for Michigan State, is pushing for a starting job with the Michigan Wolverines.
Rod Moore still isn't 100 percent. That means Michigan will need at least one more safety to emerge, at least early in the season, and Mangham feels like that guy.
Sherrone Moore said he's been a "great surprise" in fall camp. He also mentioned that Mangham is getting some time with the starters and said he "will help us" in Week 1.
It feels like Mangham who had four interceptions and nine pass breakups in 12 starts for Michigan State could be that guy after playing just one game last season due to injury.
