The NFL draft is rapidly approaching and four Michigan football players were recently projected as first-round picks according to ESPN's Mike Tannenbaum.
The former general manager of the New York Jets put together a first-round mock draft (post-free agency), and there was some interesting movement among Michigan football players.
Mason Graham was a top-10 selection but went 10th the Chicago Bears. The Michigan football defensive tackle is one of the elite players in this draft, and falling that far would be wild. It would be a steal for Chicago though and Graham would be a true monster of the midway.
Michigan football has four players projected to go in the top 22. Will Johnson came off the board at 11th to the 49ers in this mock draft, while Kenneth Grant went 15th the Falcons. Colston Loveland is projected to land with the LA Chargers and former Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh at No. 22.
There has been chatter that the Chargers want to trade up for Will Johnson. Either way, if Will or Loveland ended up with Harbaugh, it would be a perfect fit.
Michigan Wolverines transfer portal rumblings
It's been a busy couple of days for the Michigan basketball team. The Michigan Wolverines are not only preparing for their Sweet 16 game against Auburn, but Michigan is also navigating the transfer portal.
Vlad Goldin will be out of eligibility, and Danny Wolf is likely headed to the NBA, so Dusty May and the Wolverines know they have work to do. They have been connected to Iowa center Owen Freeman, although he visited Creighton already this week.
Valpo big man Cooper Schwieger is also in the process of setting up a visit to Michigan basketball, according to College Baskeball Content on X. The 6-foot-10 forward scored over 15 points per game as a sophomore.
However, there is another name Michigan Wolverines fans need to know: Magoon Gwath, a 7-foot center who just won Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year. Michigan basketball has been in contact with Gwath, according to College Basketball Content on X.
Gwath was a force for San Diego State with 2.6 blocks per game. The redshirt freshman played in 26 games total, averaging 8.5 points and 5.2 rebounds. He shot 55.3 percent on 2-point attempts, in addition to making 17 3-pointers (37.8 percent).
The big man also grabbed 1.8 offensive boards per game. Gwath is also expected to explore the NBA draft process but he's an intriguing name to know for Michigan basketball fans.
