One of the most successful head coaches in Michigan and Big Ten history called it a career on Wednesday as Bev Plocki, the long-time head coach of the Michigan Wolverines women's gymnastics teams, announced her retirement.

Plocki's impact on the Michigan Wolverines is hard to describe. She built the women's gymnastics program into one of the best in the country. The Wolverines not only won a national championship back in 2001, but they also won 26 Big Ten championships, 13 NCAA regional championships, and had 10 Super Six appearances.

Plocki was two-time National Coach of the Year. She was also named Big Ten Coach of the Year 11 times. She holds the record for most Big Ten championships won by a head coach (26).

That record may never be broken.

Michigan football flips a 2026 commitment from Baylor

The Wolverines added another blue-chip commitment in the 2026 class, flipping four-star safety Jordan Deck from Baylor.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder is ranked just outside the top 400 overall. He committed to Baylor in June, but also visited Michigan football that month. The Wolverines made a stronger push, and Lamar Morgan was key in pulling off a flip.

The secondary coach should be excited abut his new charge. Deck has 22 pass breakups over the past two seasons, as well as five interceptions. He's out of Frisco, Texas, and gives Michigan football 14 blue-chip commitments out of 21 total in 2026 (66 percent blue-chip percentage).

Former Michigan Wolverines standout finds new home in NBA

Former Michigan standout Caleb Houstan agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday. The 22-year-old shot 50.7 percent from 3-point range after the all-star break.

He will join Kobe Bufkin, another form Michgian Wolverines standout on the Hawks. Houstan averaged 4.1 points per game and 1.3 rebounds last season. For his career, he has 182 3-point makes (37.2 percent).
