Injuries are one of the worst things in sports. You can never guarantee that players are going to stay healthy. On Monday, Michigan football got a reminder of that with a season-ending injury to former five-star recruit Andrew Babalola.

The 6-foot-6, 315-pound true freshman was the highest-ranked offensive line signee in program history. After being the No. 1 pick of the sprig game draft, he was locked in a heated battle for the left tackle job, a battle that Evan Link was winning.

Now, barring a surprise, such as Blake Frazier winning the job, Link will be the starting left tackle against New Mexico and for the 2025 season. Frazier will be counted on to provide quality depth because, after watching Link play last season at right tackle, it might be needed.

5-star running back to announce commitment

Savion Hiter, a five-star running back in the 2026 class, who is ranked ninth overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, will announce his commitment Tuesday via his Instagram account.

According to 247 Sports, the 5-foot-11, 205-pound running back who is ranked No. 1 at his position, will announce his commitment at 11:15 a.m. with Michigan, Tennessee, Georgia, and Ohio State as the finalists.

Michigan football and Tennessee are viewed as the favorites by most recruiting experts. One Michigan insider said there is "confidence' on the Michigan side of things. Yet, nobody is confident enough for an expert projection or a crystal ball.

Michigan was confident going into the Calvin Russell decision. So we'll see but this is a must-land target in the 2026 class.

New Michigan football camp highlights

Michigan football posted another video of fall camp on social media on Monday. Joziah Edmond made another interception. Anthony Simpson, a newcomer at wide receiver, continues to come on strong during fall camp after missing out on the spring.

With Simpson, Donaven McCulley, Fred Moore, Semaj More, Andrew Marsh, and Jamar Browder, Michigan football has a solid collection of wideouts. That's especially true if Simpson can stay healthy and deliver like he did two seasons ago.
