For the first time since mid-September, Michigan is heading into Monday practices as winners, and while it may not have been pretty, there is a lighter feeling to this win than the others this season. Head coach Kyle Whittingham made the move many felt he never would: benching Bryce Underwood for Tommy Carr, and suddenly this Michigan team had life. A coincidence? I think not.
While Whittingham was not comfortable naming a starting quarterback going forward after the game on Saturday, that could all change Monday morning when he meets with the media. The Wolverines are welcoming No. 6 Indiana to Ann Arbor in Week 8, and there is no time to mess around with a decision like this.
It feels crazy to think that Whittingham would go back to Underwood after Carr facilitated three touchdown drives in the second half against Penn State, while Underwood could barely get past the 50-yard line in the first half. The Hoosiers are down after a loss to Ohio State in Week 7, so now is the time for the Wolverines to put their best foot forward and pounce.
That best foot forward right now is Carr. Whittingham said at halftime that the Wolverines needed a spark, and Carr brought that in the second half. By giving him a full week of practice with the starters, Carr could go out and perform even better for Michigan, even against a tough Indiana team.
If Michigan wants to keep its very slim hopes of a College Football Playoff spot alive, a win against Indiana is a must, and Carr gives the Wolverines the best shot at the upset.

Weather forecast in Ann Arbor
The cooler temperatures are officially setting in, making this feel like true football weather. It will be a high of 67 degrees and a low of 40 degrees, but with a Noon kickoff, the warmer temperatures should prevail with little wind, making this the perfect atmosphere for, hopefully, a big upset win.
