Michigan football has a generational player at quarterback right now. But soon, the Wolverines will also have a generational player at running back, too.

Savion Hiter, a five-star commitment of Michigan football in the 2026 class, put up some incredible numbers on Friday night, with over 300 yards rushing, an effort that included a 93-yard touchdown run.

EJ Holland of The Wolverine, who was covering the game to scout Hiter, posted, "HE’S HIM!!!!!!!!!" on X regarding the future Michigan football running back after the incredible touchdown run.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back out of Mineral, Virginia, is ranked ninth overall in the 2026 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Steve Wiltfong of Rivals said he might be the best player in the entire 2026 class.

Running back just doesn't have the same positional value as it once did. But in terms of just overall impact, it's hard to find anyone from the 2026 class who will be better than Hiter.

Hiter carried the ball 16 times total for 328 yards on Friday night. He also scored three touchdowns. Michigan football beat out Georgia, Ohio State, and Tennessee for his commitment. At the time, I said it was close to Bryce Underwood's commitment in terms of long-term impact.

Within two years, Michigan could have the best quarterback in college football and the best running back in college football. That's not hyperbole. Hiter is that good. Friday night was a reminder of that, and as we count down the days to signing day, it's hard not to dream about the future of Underwood and Hiter sharing the same Michigan backfield.

What a time to be alive.
