In his first season as the Michigan head coach, Dusty May led his team to a Big Ten Tournament Championship title and to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. While the 2024-2025 Michigan team was one that some thought could really go the distance, they certainly fell short of their goal in May's mind.
The Wolverines were hit hard by the transfer portal and the NBA Draft; however, May hit the portal even harder and has brought in currently the No. 2 transfer portal team this offseason behind only St. John's. With the team that May has built, the Wolverines could be one of the scariest lineups in college basketball next season.
Even though it has only been a few weeks since the 2024-2025 college basketball season concluded, fans are eager and ready for next season. Well, the Big Ten is keeping fans engaged by already releasing conference opponents for each team next season, and Michigan is looking at a gauntlet in Big Ten play.
Here is every Big Ten opponent Michigan will play against next season:
- Home: Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Rutgers, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin
- Away: Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Northwestern, Oregon, Purdue, Washington
- Home/Away: Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State
The Michigan Wolverines will have a tough road getting back to the Big Ten title game
Michigan's Big Ten opponents are not something to scoff at, as the Wolverines will have to go on the road to some tough environments. Not only will they play both of their rivals both home and away, but they will also travel to Purdue, Maryland, and Iowa, three really hostile environments.
Luckily, the Wolverines will be able to host a new look Indiana team, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Rutgers, all on their home court. They also will only have to travel to the west coast twice as they take on Oregon and Washington, which means both games may coincide to only have to make one trip.
Big Ten play will definitely be tough for the Wolverines, and getting back to the title game will be hard, but not impossible.
