That didn't take long at all. Plenty of fans are still trying to process the news that Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was fired with cause. Immediately, the search is on for a new head coach to take over the program. Whoever is hired, their first order of business will be to keep Bryce Underwood on campus.

3 Sherrone Moore replacements who make the most sense for Michigan

Already, rumors are flying that Underwood could decide to leave Ann Arbor and enter the transfer portal. As you probably could have guessed, LSU is a school that he's being linked to, as he famously backed off his pledge to the Tigers to sign with Michigan. LSU great Tyrann Matheiu didn't waste any time in publicly trying to get Underwood to once again change his mind:

On Wednesday, the college football world was turned upside down with the news that Moore had been fired. From the moment that happened, people have been eyeing which Michigan players will decide to enter the portal.

With Underwood being a 5-star freshman and the nation's No. 1 quarterback for the 2025 class, it's easy to see why there's so much attention surrounding his name. If anything, this puts even more pressure for Michigan to move fast with a new hire.

Underwood leaving would be a massive setback for the program, but you have to imagine he's not the only one thinking of potentially finding a new place to call home after the Moore news dropped. So, who could Michigan end up targeting?

Kalen DeBoer has quickly been mentioned as a candidate, as has Jeff Fisch and others. With another scandal hitting Michigan, athletic director Warde Manuel must do what he can to make sure the right hire is made. The Wolverines can't afford another controversy to rock the university. Manuel has to knock this one out of the park - and Michigan also must do whatever it takes to keep Underwood in Ann Arbor.
