Everyone is waiting to see who the Michigan Wolverines are going to hire next with Sherrone Moore out the door. This week, Louisville's Jeff Brohm has emerged as a top candidate, with the veteran coach drawing mixed reactions from the fanbase.
3 dark horse candidates Michigan should consider for head coach
Well, there's another name to keep a close eye on. In recent days, rumors have arrived stating that Warde Manuel and Michigan could have strong interest in Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann. This feels a touch random, right?
It shouldn't be. Schumann and Georgia are in the College Football Playoff and the Bulldogs are a serious contender to win it all. The defense is a big reason for that, but at times under Schumann's watch, the group has been a touch inconsistent, leading to fans ripping him. Would he make sense for a program like Michigan?
Michigan Football: Current Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann is rumored to be on Michigan’s shortlist of head-coaching candidates. He has worked for Nick Saban and Kirby Smart and is highly regarded.

Georgia DC Glenn Schumann has been linked to the open Michigan head coach job
For a little while, it has seemed like it would only be a matter of time before Schumann was given a shot to run his own program. As noted above, he's learned from some of the best in the business, with Kirby Smart and Nick Saban helping with his coaching development.
It'd be a bit of a risk for Michigan to go this route, but the Wolverines can't be overly picky at this point in their search. Once Moore got fired, countless fans were eyeing both Kalen DeBoer and Kenny Dillingham as the main targets for the school to go after. Nothing good has come from that.
Dillingham ended up signing a new contract at Arizona State, while DeBoer and Alabama are set to take on Indiana in the quarterfinals of the Playoff. DeBoer himself has said that he's not talking to other programs and he plans to be with Bama for the long haul.
So, now what? Other candidates include Biff Poggi, the interim head coach, Kyle Whittingham and others. While Schumann may not be a big name for UM supporters, the fact that he's drawing interest is eye-opening. Regardless of if he gets an offer or not, people are just ready for this search to end as soon as possible.
