Michigan football is going to jump up in the College Football Playoff rankings this week; the only question is how much.
If the AP Poll is any indication, the Wolverines will move up three spots. That's what Michigan football did in this week's rankings, moving up to 15th after a 45-20 win over Maryland.
The 25-point win was the complete performance of the season for the Wolverines. They had over 400 yards of total offense, something they did for the third straight week.
This time, however, the Wolverines didn't let their opponent hang around. They took care of the football, finishing the game with zero turnovers, despite one ill-advised throw by Bryce Underwood, which could have made the game much more interesting.
Still, Underwood was flawless. He found Andrew Marsh for a touchdown, then threw another to Donaven McCulley. The offensive line also did its part, paving the way for 232 rushing yards. Bryson Kuzdal rushed 20 times for 100 yards. He scored three rushing touchdowns, becoming the third back this season to have 100 yards on the ground and three scores.
Maryland got a garbage-time touchdown, while Michigan subbed out Underwood with 12 minutes to go. The Wolverines will have starting running back Jordan Marshall this week, as they play what could be a berth in the College Football Playoff.
That's how one expert sees it. Win and in for Michigan. The Buckeyes are a heavy favorite, but Michigan is used to that, and that's been true in three of the past four games, all wins by the Wolverines.
