The news Michigan and Dusty May were hoping would not come in, well, it just did. That'd be that sharpshooter Juke Harris won't be making the move to Ann Arbor, as he has committed to Tennessee and Rick Barnes. Harris has also taken his name out of the NBA Draft process.

Dusty May getting late interest from the NBA could be a disaster for Michigan

So, what does this mean for Michigan? While this stings, it's likely something May has been prepping for, as Harris has been a Tennessee lean in recent weeks. At the same time, there's no time to waste for May, as we think he should quickly pivot and make a run at transfer playmaker Hamad Mousa. Michigan has been linked to the Cal Poly transfer of late and now would be the time to up the efforts in trying to get him to town.

Michigan should prioritize Hamad Mousa after swinging and missing with Juke Harris

While Harris obviously would have been a big-time get for Michigan, there indeed will be no time to pout after not landing him. Hey, we'll tip our cap to Barnes, but Mousa would be more than just a consolation prize for May and his staff.

After starting his career at Dayton, the 6-8, 200-pounder joined Cal Poly and he put on a show this past season. On the year, Mousa poured in 20.4 points per game in 30 starts. As you could have guessed, he took home All-Conference honors thanks to his strong play.

Ranked four stars and the No. 92 overall player in the transfer portal per 247Sports, Mousa has the versatility to play multiple positions for the Wolverines. He's listed as a power forward, but he could also slide down to the three and make a difference there.

With his strong scoring ability, Mousa would indeed be a fantastic late get for the Wolverines if the reigning national champs are able to pull things off. For now, Mousa is undecided on where he'll play next, but when Michigan comes calling, it's hard to not get too excited. At the same time, with Harris signing with Tennessee, there's extra urgency there for May to go after him.
