Just because the transfer portal is technically closed doesn't mean that roster movement is completely over, as Michigan football fans found out on Tuesday.

Just a couple of months after he was added to the program, Colin Hurley, a former LSU quarterback who entered the portal after one season with the Tigers, is no longer with the program. according to Josh Henschke of the Maize and Blue Review.

Hurley didn't register any stats playing for the Tigers last season. He was expected to compete for the backup job this spring, and in the fall, but according to Henschke, there was a "mutual" decision to part ways.

What the Michigan QB room looks like moving forward

Some Michigan football fans have connected the move to the strong spring of true freshman quarterback Tommy Carr. The four-star signee has been impressive this spring, generating a ton of buzz with his play.

Carr might even be the No. 2 quarterback as of this moment. However, Henschke said that there wasn't a connection between the departure of Hurley and the emergence of Carr this spring.

Michigan football fans who might be concerned about the idea of a freshman backup to Bryce Underwood can rest assured that former Colorado State quarterback, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi is going to join the program this summer and be part of the team for fall camp.

Some fans have questioned whether he was going to be on campus, so that confirmation is a positive thing. Fowler-Nicolosi, Underwood, and Carr is an ideal quarterback room. There is veteran experience, and also a young quarterback to develop for the future.

It feels like Michigan got a steal in Carr. Maybe it had something to do with Hurley leaving, maybe it didn't. It really doesn't matter because, despite that departure, the quarterback room is still in a solid place.
