Michigan football recruiting has come back to life with a vengeance.

After an up-and-down season, as well as an up-and-down recruiting cycle, Michigan football, which has been pursuing Bryce Underwood for weeks, finally got him to flip from LSU.

Underwood told the news to Adam Schefter and it's going to send shockwaves through the world of college football.

People will point to the massive NIL package that Michigan football offered Underwood, but there were a lot of different factors. Things have also started going south at LSU. The Tigers have dropped to 6-4 and there is a lot of pressure on Brian Kelly.

The LSU OC, Joe Sloan, who is probably the biggest reason why Underwood has stuck with LSU up to this point, has also been mentioned as a head coaching candidate for other schools.

What's next for Michigan football

Michigan football is 5-5 right now and still has to earn its way into a bowl game. But it's clear that the Wolverines are serious about making sure this is a one-off. The NIL war chest has been activated and this is the second flip in as many days as Elijah Dotson, a teammate of Underwood's, flipped on Wednesday.

Underwood is the No. 1 overall in the 2025 class and he's the top-ranked QB as well. What will be interesting is what happens next. Derek Meadows, a five-star wide receiver also visited Michigan football and the belief was that he'll end up where Underwood does.

Andrew Olesh has been on the fence and Oregon, plus other schools have been pushing to flip him and surely, this will keep him in the class.

Many were critical of Sherrone Moore's strategy. But it paid off in a huge way and now, he's got to build an offense around the most highly-touted quarterback recruit to ever come to Michigan.
