Michigan football is rising with another elite talent in 2026

Michigan football could be adding another top-100 commitment on the D-line in the coming weeks.

Michigan football's defensive line coach Lou Esposito has put together an impressive haul for the Wolverines in the 2026 class, but there could be another blue-chip commitment on the horizon.

Deuce Geralds a 6-foot-2, 276-pound defensive tackle out of Suwannee, Georgia, who is ranked No. 73 overall, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, is poised to announce his commitment on August 2nd.

Hayes Fawcett of On3.com reported that on Wednesday. Michigan football, Oregon, Ole Miss, LSU, and Ohio State are the other teams in the mix. Geralds took an official visit to Ann Arbor in June, but also visited the other programs in contention too.

The Wolverines already have six EDGE/DL commitments. But there is always room for another elite player up front, and Geralds would fit the mold. Could you imagine a defensive interior of Titan Davis, Alister Vallejo, and Geralds? It's not that far-fetched.

According to Chad Simmons of On3.com, Geralds is still considering four teams ahead of his commitment on August 2nd. Those are Michigan, Oregon, Ole Miss, and LSU. Ohio State is no longer in the running. Simmons called them a "distant fifth."

That's interesting because Ohio State got the final official visit. Truth be told, Oregon feels like the favorite. Yet, Michigan is trying to challenge that. The Wolverines have at least given themselves a chance over the next few weeks, and as we know, that's a lifetime in recruiting.

The crystal ball is foggy for Deuce Geralds

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Ohio State, a team no longer in the mix. There aren't any crystal ball projections yet, so this is still a contested recruitment.

Oregon won't be easy to beat. However, Michigan should have more money available now that Calvin Russell committed to Syracuse. Savion Hiter and Davon Benjamin should get some of that, too, but if you are talking about premium position, defensive tackle is near the top.
