Mikey Keene, the former Fresno State starting quarterback was supposed to be the competition for Bryce Underwood this fall, as he tries to win the Michigan football starting quarterback job.
However, Keene hasn't been able to participate during spring ball, and there's no clarity on when he will return. There have been indications that he'll be ready for the fall, but if that was true, Michigan football probably wouldn't be kicking the tires on former Iowa quarterback Bredan Sullivan.
Sullivan played for Northwestern for two seasons before transferring to Iowa where he started three games last season and saw action in 10. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound quarterback completed 71 percent of his passes for the Hawkeyes. He also had three touchdown passes compared to three interceptions.
For his career, Sullivan has 69.4 percent of his passes to go along with 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The quarterback has also rushed for 407 yards and seven touchdowns.
The interest between Michigan football and Sullivan was reported by Pete Nakos of On3.com.
"I know everybody loves what Bryce has done, but there is also the reality that Brendan Sullivan has more college starting experience," Nakos said via EJ Holland of The Wolverine on X.

Michigan is interested in transfer portal QB Brendan Sullivan. The latest intel with insider @PeteNakos_ #GoBlue. https://t.co/kPqU8IDaNk pic.twitter.com/ftCTDCwJj3
Tulane is also interested and would give Sullivan an easier path to the starting job. Sullivan would have to beat out Underwood, who is a true freshman and has dazzled during Michigan football spring practices.

Michigan football needed to add a veteran punter and achieved that goal on Friday by signing Luke Bauer, a former two-year starter for Missouri.
Bauer was a two-year starter for the Tigers. Last season , he had 49 punts and downed 13 inside the 20. His average was 41.82 and 12 of his punts went beyond 50 yards.
