Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from the rejuvenated win over Northwestern
By Nick Popio
1. The offensive line exerted itself
Davis Warren and the running backs owe their pocket protectors a healthy dinner this week after what they did to Northwestern's defense. That also includes Max Bredeson, who never gets the recognition he deserves for being one of the top fullbacks in the country.
They all contributed for over 200 yards on the ground and almost another 200 in the air. It was a balanced effort that was rewarded with a 50 point outburst. Tyler Morris had his breakout performance with seven grabs. Fredrick Moore caught Warren's best pass of the day as he turned towards the ball that Warren put on the money for him to run after the catch.
The highly criticized Evan Link sprung Kalel Mullings for a huge hole that created a 47-yard run. Greg Crippen and Giovanni El-Hadi moved the pile for Mullings to scamper through for one of his touchdowns. And even the backups got into the action by allowing Tavierre Dunlap to race to the endzone for another rushing score.
