Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from an uncoordinated loss to Oregon
By Nick Popio
2. Colston Loveland records another marquee performance
Dating back to the last four games Loveland has tallied 26 catches and three touchdowns. He finally broke the 100 yard mark for the first time in his banner career on Saturday. His best catch was unaccounted for though. It went to review and he couldn't maintain possession as he simultaneously hit the ground.
The rest of the receiving core totaled six catches. A wideout, or tight end, not named Loveland caught a touchdown pass for the first time since the Minnesota win. That goes to show how erratic the quarterback/wide receiver tandem has been in 2024. The next closest pass catcher doesn't even have half the catches Loveland has in 2024.
Oregon's top receiver was a non-factor because he got banged up on his lone reception of the afternoon. Traeshon Holden and Justius Lowe combined for 12 grabs and 200 yards of offense. 470 yards is the most that the defense has surrendered to date. Dillon Gabriel will soon be the touchdown king in college football and he will bring home more hardware once his season is over.
