Michigan Football: 3 takeaways from a depressing loss to Indiana

2. The offense malfunctioned in crunch time
Michigan's offense had their chances to pull off the upset on Saturday. Davis Warren regressed from the past two weeks though. He missed open receivers or over threw them time and time again. Seven different pass catchers caught it, which is some progress, but they don't seem to trust Warren to bomb it deep for a pass over 40 yards. That's good for being dead last in the rankings.
Credit to Indiana's defense who wouldn't let Michigan's receivers breathe in those moments either. They were disciplined when Michigan did try to throw a flea-flicker and in the running game. Their defensive line hurried Warren constantly and made Michigan's offensive line look pedestrian.
There was no running game to speak of, even though they outrushed the Hoosiers by 30 yards or so. Michigan's rush offense has hit lower and lower numbers each of the last three weeks. For a program who prides itself on running the football as its identity, their longest run of the day went for just eight yards.
