Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore is like many coaches in college football, and he once played college football himself. After growing up in Derby, Kansas, Moore played two seasons at the JUCO level at Butler Community College before transferring to Oklahoma for his final two seasons at the college level. Moore then graduated from Oklahoma before starting his coaching career.

Before coming to Michigan, Moore started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Louisville, where he spent five years under Steve Kragthorpe and Charlie Strong. he was hired as a full-time assistant and then tight ends coach in 2012 and 2013 before making the move to Central Michigan in 2014 when he was hired as the tight ends coach.

Moore spent four years at Central Michigan and was even named assistant coach and recruiting coordinator before he was hired on in 2018 by head coach Jim Harbaugh. Moore started out as the tight ends coach and worked his way up through Harbaugh's staff when he officially became the offensive coordinator in 2021 and even acted as head coach in 2023, serving in the position during Harbaugh's suspension.

Then, when Harbaugh left the Wolverines after winning a National Championship, Moore was quickly named the head coach of the Wolverines. Moore has a lot of experience in coaching, but not a lot as a head coach, but clearly he is picking on a few things quickly.

In the 2025 college football season, Moore will face both his Alma Mater and the school that he left before coming to Michigan. That is a lot for one coach, but Moore seems pretty calm about facing both teams.

Sherrone Moore is keeping his cool about facing his Alma Mater in 2025

When Moore joined J.D. PicKell on his On3 podcast, The Hard Court, Moore was asked a lot about spring football, quarterback Bryce Underwood, and even about facing his Alma Mater, Oklahoma, in the 2025 season. When it came to facing the Sooners, Moore seemed to have an idea of what he will feel like, but time will only tell.

"I don't know yet," Moore said. "I think that will be a little different because that's where I played, but at the same time, man, this will be year eight here in Michigan, so this place is home for me, and it'll be like going against another team."

So many coaches i college football now are beginning to face their former teams, especially with teams trying to bolster their resumes for the College Football Playoff. In the National Championship, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman faced his Alma Mater, Ohio State.

This is going to just be another game for Moore and his Michigan team, and all he can think about is getting a win and heading back home to Ann Arbor.
