Michigan fans can close the cover of the panic button when it comes to Kamden Lopati taking an official visit that isn't to Michigan. First of all, it is very common for already committed players to take official visits to other schools; it doesn't always mean they are planning to flip. Second of all, Lopati's official visit Navy is purely for family reasons.
News broke on Monday that Lopati was taking an official visit to Navy this week, and while many speculated it could be out of interest in playing there, Lopati quickly cleared things up.
"I have an OV to Navy. My brother's a player-coach over there. I plan to go on an OV to Navy just for my brother," Lopati told On3's Ethan McDowell.

It has been known that Lopati would be taking this official visit to the Naval Academy for quite some time, but it was purely for family reasons. Lopati's brother, Karson Lopati, played for Navy and is now a player-coach for the Midshipmen. Lopati made it extremely clear that this visit is for his brother, and that is it.
The Michigan coaching staff was well aware of the official visits Lopati had planned, and even encouraged it, according to McDowell as well.
4-star QB Kamden Lopati is a Michigan commit through and through
Kamden Lopati has been committed to Michigan since April, basically flipping from Illinois to the Wolverines. The four-star quarterback is ranked as the 10th-best quarterback in the Class of 2027 and is truly a product of Kyle Whittingham coming to Ann Arbor.
With some Utah ties, Lopati is happy to join Whittingham, even helping recruit other prospects to Michigan, proving he is fairly locked in with the Wolverines. The official visit to Navy truly seems like a family thing for Lopati and shouldn't worry Michigan fans in the slightest.
Lopati has most recently been trying to help Michigan get a commitment from five-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant, who still remains uncommitted, even after an official visit to Oregon this past weekend. Lopati was seen in a video at the Elite 11 Showcase, stating that he was seriously helping Michigan gett Guerrant at home instead of him heading out west to Oregon.
That certainly doesn't sound like a recruit who is planning to flip his commitment anytime soon. So, while it is easy for fans to begin worrying about Lopati's commitment, just remember, he wants to help Michigan gain recruits, not be another recruit that could leave.
Right now, Lopati is the quarterback of the future for Michigan after the Bryce Underwood era is over. As one of Whittingham's biggest recruits for Michigan, Lopati is one that the Wolverines will be keen on doing everything they can to keep him in Ann Arbor.
