Michigan football closed out spring practice on Saturday with the annual spring game. It will be broadcast in full next Saturday on the Big Ten Network.
Yet, if you followed on X, there was plenty of information. The Blue team won the game 17-0. Bryce Underwood, the highly-touted freshman quarterback, finished the game completing 12 of 25 passes for 187 yards with one touchdown with one interception.
Underwood had some ups and downs. That's to be expected. He's a freshman playing without a full allotment of starters at wide receiver or on the offensive line.
Reading between the lines, Underwood made some impressive throws. He also ran for a first down and threw an 88-yard touchdown pass on the final play of the game. Catch up with everything that happened here in our blow-by-blow updates of what happened.
Here are our gut reactions from the Michigan football sprng game.
Gut reactions to Michigan spring game
- Bryce Underwood has work to do. The arm talent is there, but becoming a great quarterback doesn't happen overnight.
- Getting help at wide receiver and left tackle wouldn't hurt.
- Get to know the name Jalen Hoffman. He was a spring game standout who should make an impact next season. The tight end had over 100 yards on Saturday.
- The running game will be just fine. Better than fine actually. As long as the O-line holds up, it will be elite.
- The defense flat-out dominated. Over five sacks, three takeaways, and just 17 points allowed. Michigan football will have an elite defense once again.
- Michigan might have something in Jeremiah Lowe. The cornerback/nickel picked off two passes.
- The Wolverines need a veteran quarterback.
- Channing Goodwin looks ready to contribute.
- This is a good team, but Michigan football has some work to do in the portal.
