Michigan basketball has been active in the transfer portal, even before the season ended in the Sweet 16 against Auburn.

Now that the Wolverines have entered the offseason, things are ramping up. Michigan basketball has been in contact with even more transfer portal targets and are making serious headway with a couple.

One of those is former San Diego State big man Magoon Gwath. The Wolverines are battling Kentucky for the 7-footer's commitment. He won the Mountain West Player of the Year award in his freshman season after averaging 2.6 blocks per game.

Michigan basketball is also after guards. Jalen Jackson, a 6-foot-2 guard from Purdue Fort Wayne, who scored 27 points against the Wolverines in a loss earlier this season, is one of the targets for head coach Dusty May, and things are picking up.

According to Davis Moseley, a Michigan basketball insider, the Wolverines will conduct an in-home visit with Jackson on Sunday night. Jackson averaged 19.2 points per game last season in addition to 4.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

May has always preferred to have multiple playmakers on the roster, but the Wolverines didn't develop that outside of L.J. Cason late in the season. Jackson didn't have a stellar season shooting 3-pointers (26 percent). However, he's a 33-percent shooter from deep in his career and during the 2023-24 season, he made 40 triples, shooting at a 41 percent clip.

The Wolverines are also in the mix for North Carolina point guard Elliot Cadeau, as well as Illinois big man Morez Johnson, according to Joe Tipton of On3.com. Moseley also reports that Michigan basketball is a factor for Kansas center and former five-star recruit Flory Bidunga. Moseley even wrote, "Michigan in a much better spot than most realize."

Things are moving quickly with Michigan basketball and who knows, it might not be long before the Wolverines get their first commitment.
