Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from the mighty Cleveland State win

2. Vlad Goldin was inconspicuous by his play
Perhaps Michigan's best player didn't have much of an impact in his maize and blue debut. His first basket didn't come until halfway through the second half. He hasn't had a point total that low since his second year at Florida Atlantic. Meanwhile there's no need to panic about him yet. Goldin is far too experienced to completely fall off the map like that.
His counterpart, Danny Wolf, had a sensational night in his new digs. He recorded a double-double and his ball skills for a seven-footer were a thing of beauty. He was the catalyst for the pace of play that Michigan basketball pushed for 40 minutes on Monday night. His only downside was that he had five giveaways. He only had five once as a sophomore at Yale.
Four other Wolverines were in double digits, including three off the bench. That's something that Juwan Howard didn't have the affordability of in 2023. That was also without the talented Rubin Jones who was left out of the rotation because of an injury concern. He's considered a starter by most accounts.
