3. 112 points is the most points scored this century
Dating all the way back to 1998, Michigan basketball has not scored more then they did in Crisler on Sunday evening. It was February of 98 when the Wolverines beat the snot out of Indiana at home and compiled 112 points. That team included the late, great Robert Traylor, who was joined by Jerod Ward, Louis Bullock, Maceo Baston and they were coached by Brian Ellerbe.
Records don't go back that far on the internet these days, but Michigan was ranked in the top 25, unlike this time around. The Wolverines won 25 that season and won the inaugural Big Ten tournament. They lost to UCLA in the big dance and will be playing the Bruins now as a conference foe.
Dusty May's bunch is toying with records in his first season. Just imagine what he will do when his handpicked recruiting classes arrive in Ann Arbor. He's on pace to be the next John Beilein. As ridiculous as it may sound today, Michigan basketball could be in the mix for a top-four seed in March. It all depends on what kind of damage they can dish out in the conference over the next three months.
We all know by now that the Big Ten isn't as strong as the SEC and doesn't have a powerhouse school like they did in Purdue over the previous seasons. Michigan gets Oregon at home, which is the only Top 10 program left on the schedule. A lot will change between now and March, but Dusty May has to like his chances as Michigan re-enters conference play.
