3. Virginia Tech tallied just five assists

Only three Hokie players notched an assist on Monday night in Fort Meyers. Ben Hammond had three of them by himself. The other two were Brandon Rechsteiner and Tyler Johnson. That's a season low for the Hokies who are now on a three game losing streak after winning the first three to open the schedule.

Michigan basketball more than tripled them in that category with 17 assists. Roddy Gayle Jr. and Danny Wolf had four a piece. Wolf also turned it over five times again, which is the fourth time he has had five or more this season. He had his lowest point total from the field since the Wake Forest loss and didn't get a bucket until the final stages of the 12-point win. Wolf did snag 11 boards by the way.

Gayle paced the team with 20 and has had three straight outings with 10 or more points. Michigan's leading scorer through the first six, Tre Donaldson, didn't pass the double digit mark in points for the first time this season.

Michigan basketball will be the underdog in the next two and we'll find out exactly where this group could be come tournament time over the next week. Xavier and Marquette appear to be the class of the Big East, while Wisconsin will also come in without a loss to the Kohl Center after Thanksgiving break.
